7 Reasons You Should Drink More Water
We all know water is good for you (I hope everyone knows it). It’s something you should drink, but do you know *why* you should drink it? Here are 7 reasons you should drink water more, outlined below.
1. Water Cleans Out Toxins.
Water helps flush toxins from your body by making you urinate more and perspire more. This in turn keeps you healthier because your body is in supreme working order. Never forget natures magical flush! Since many people eat so poorly (especially in America) water helps the body clean out the impurities of junk food much faster. It’s better not to eat the foods in the first place, but if you do, water makes it easier on your body.
2. Water Promotes Regularity.
Water promotes regularity by keeping your stool soft (along with fiber) and having you go to the restroom at regular intervals. If you’re not going enough and your urine is bright or dark orange, chances are you might want to start drinking more water. You don’t have to be going to the bathroom every 5 seconds, but you do want to have a constant and healthy movement.
3. Water Is Good For Skin.
When you flush chemicals and toxins out of your body, it has a great effect on your skin. Water helps give your skin the magical glow that it should have. Your skin is just showing what’s going on inside of your body. If you are keeping your body well taken care of on the inside, your skin will show it on the outside.
4. Water Suppresses Hunger and Reduces Weight.
Many times you think you’re hungry you are in fact simply thirsty. Here’s a tip, when you’re feeling hungry, try drinking about 8oz of water and waiting 15 minutes. If you’re still hungry afterwards, then you need to eat. If you are full, then you were probably dehydrated. Many times we mistake thirst for hunger and then we overeat which causes us to not only make things worse, but we also add more weight.
Next time you are feeling hungry, try drinking water instead.
5. Water Increases Energy.
If you are not getting enough water you will often feel groggy and exhausted. Especially in warmer months. I remember when I was in the drum line we had a water break every 5 or 10 minutes. It made sense too, because kids marching would often faint in the hot sun. You definitely want to make sure you’re drinking more when it’s hot outside. It’s very dangerous not to. Many time people go for sugary drinks which only make things worse for them.
6. Water Reduces Headaches and Inflammation.
Water does wonders for reducing the inflammatory responses in the body. When you’re having cramps and headaches you’ll often be dehydrated and need water. If you find your body is often having these issues, see if you need more water in your diet. Due to the effects water has on these responses it’s also good for skin for this reason as well. Keep your body hydrated!
7. Water Saves Money!
Water is very cheap and you can get it for free (or close to it). This is a big one because people often complain about how expensive it is to “eat healthy”. If you can buy fruit juices and soft drinks and alcohol, you can definitely afford water. It’s better for you and better for your body. If you want the best body you can have, you need to start now! If you want to cut down on buying water bottles while on the go, try using a thermos! I use one all of the time and it’s great!
