8 Essential Items for Awesome Road Travel
Road Travel Need Not Be Boring
Who said traveling had to be plain and boring where you just sit and move to your next destination? Travel can be interesting and exciting-provided you have the right tools of the trade? Here are 8 great items below that can make your road travel awesome.
1. A Food Cooker.
A food cooker is simply a wonderful machine. It allows you to eat full, home cooked meals on the road instead of having to eat sandwiches all of the time. It also prevents you from having to eat out. This saves you money and is better for you.
Contrary to what you see on TV or the internet, they aren’t all grill cookers. They simply look like lunch boxes that you store food in (use aluminum foil or a loaf pan) and then you cook the food. They generally cook at 300 degrees which can cook things like hot dogs easily because they are small and light.
I prepare my food in the morning and then just re-heat it during the day so I don’t have to mess with ingredients. This is a cheap purchase and revolutionized the way I travel.
2. A Laptop Mount.
This device allows you to quickly and efficiently mount your laptop. This is nice because you are more effective when it isn’t in your lap. You can use a mouse and other accessories easily and it’s more comfortable than having to tilt your head down. Furthermore you can also use it quickly on the move if you require a certain business that fits this demand.
It also looks more professional. Nothing screams business like having your laptop mounted. Cops also tend to bother you less if they don’t think you’re doing something suspicious. having it in your lap gives you more of a “suspicious” look apparently.
3. An Inverter.
With this neat device you can plug in home appliances that use a different current. It allows you to use normal plugs with direct current and change it into alternating current. If you want to charge a wall plug-in device can be done now. Want to plug your laptop in and charge it? You can do that too. Just be sure not to plug it into your cigarette lighter socket excessively as that will drain the battery quickly. Use a separate inverter attached to a marine battery for that.
4. A Portable Battery Charger.
This looks like a small brick device. With a battery charger that’s portable you can use this anywhere, even with no plugs. That’s right, you can charge your items with no plug around. This is very handy and convenient because you can use it on places like an airplane. What’s also neat is that if you’re playing music or a movie and charging something, you’ll get feedback many times. Not so with this.
You can get these in various capacities. Get a nice large one and enjoy it.
5. Some Refrigerant Ice Packs.
These allow you to store food and keep it fresh through the day. The best thing about these is that they’re dry. You don’t have to worry about the mess and smell of ice and water. It’s easy to deal with and easy to clean up. They last all day as well and are very cheap. Ice packs from the store add up over time and if you use it regularly it can be 2-3 dollars a day. Save money and buy some ice packs online. I used to buy ice cubes but they were just too messy and expensive. In the hottest parts of the summer I used to need 2 ice bags a day! That cost adds up!
6. A Thermos.
A thermos is excellent whether you’re on the go or at home. It saves the mess of dishes and keeps your drinks hot or cold through the day. You can also keep your soup warm with a soup version. Get yourself more than one if you want and keep another for other drinks. They’re basically bulletproof and great all times of the year. I even use them at home because I don’t need to keep piling up dishes.
7. A Window and Dashboard Mount.
These are great for navigation systems but also for music and entertainment. I use it for that myself when I’m on the road to keep me awake. Simply mount your device near the front of you so you’ll see the road when you’re driving. Drive and be entertained.
8. A Voice Activated Bluetooth.
Bluetooths are great, especially when they’re voice activated. It cuts down on the risk and hassle of talking on the phone while you’re driving. When you use this you can simply say “answer” and the phone picks right up and then you’re on the phone. The great thing about this is that cops won’t bother you. if they see you holding a phone you can often get in trouble. Especially if you’re texting. I also hate having to tilt my neck and talk on the phone.
A Bluetooth is a traveling person’s best friend.
